Digipack Analysis: Ellie Goulding

This is the front cover of Ellie Goulding's debut album "Lights". The design of the cover fits in well with the name of the album as of the use of colour gold to resemble lights. The gold in the background looks a bit like fairydust which connotes a sense of fantasy, which is what her music sounds like. The use of colours also make the cover stand out as it is rather eye-catching, they also look quite edgy too which is the type of style Ellie wears and people know her for. This creates a concept of branding. Ellie's name is lit up in gold font which again catches the audinece eye but also conntes a feeling that she is already famous as her name is in lights, this will help in promoting the album as people are more likely to buy it if they think she is already famous. The font and colours all work together and tie in to the orginal concept which is lights. The close up of the artist is a very redundant feature on album covers as it helps in promoting them. The colours, pose and make up used make her look very pretty and youthful, which help appeal to her target audience.

This is the back cover of Ellie Goulding's debut album "Lights". Although the same colour scheme is used on the back as it is on the front, the back cover looks rather plain compared to the front cover. However the simplicity of the cover makes it easier to read, its only about the music which is a bit Ellie Goulding. The fact the the songs are wrote in gold again fits into the overall theme of "lights".
