Audience Feedback: Font

I was finding it hard to decide which font to use throughout my digipack. Therefore I decided to ask 20 girls who are a similar age to my target audience.  The results were:

Font 1: 3 Votes
Font 2: 7 Votes
Font 3: 1 Vote
Font 4: 9 Votes

From these results I have decided that I am going to use font 4 for my digipack.

Draft Idea For Digipack

This is a rough draft of what I would like my digipack to look like. For the front cover I want a posed image of the artist, preferably playing the guitar, and I want the name of the album and the artist's name in big, bold, handwritten style font. The artists name and name of the album is the first thing I want the audience to see, so it sticks in their mind. "GLUE" is going to be in a pastel pink colour and "NINA NESBITT" is going to be in a pastel blue colour. For the back outside cover I'm going to have an image of a glue stick in the background, as this refers back to the name of the album. When researching digipacks I saw that many album covers had images that referred back to the name of the album, so I am going to incorporate this in my design. Also on the back outside cover, I am going to have the songs that are on the album listed with numbers. I am using numbers as in the song "Glue" Nina sings with numbers. Again referring back to the album name. In the bottom right hand corner I am going to have an image of a cupcake. I am doing this as it looks quite quirky which fits in with Nina Nesbitt's style. I am going to use the same font throughout the digipack to create a house style. When doing my research, I saw that many other artists albums had their own house style. By creating my own house style, it should make the album look more professional. For the inside left of the the digipack, I am going to have a posed image of the artist. I want it to look simple and natural to represent her music. The inside right of the digipack is where the CD is going to be.

Digipack Task: Possible Colour Themes

These are possible colour schemes that I will use when making my digipack. I have chosen light, dusky, pastel colours as our overall theme was vintage. Also as they are quite girly colours they will appeal to our target audience of teenage girls.

Digipack Task: Font Research

These are some possible fonts that I may use for my digipack. I have gone for the vintage/edgy looking styles because they fit in well with the genre of music. Also Nina Nesbitt's style is quite vintage/ edgy too. I also think the fonts will appeal to the target audience as they look quite feminine too. Out of the four I think I prefer number 2 and 4.

I am now going to start designing and making my own digipack for are artist Nina Nesbitt. I am going to use the same colours and font throughout the digipack, I am doing this because when analysing similar artists digipacks and album adverts they used the same house style throughout.

Digipack Analysis: Florence And The Machine

This is the front cover of Florence and the Machine's album "Lungs". The image of Florence is very quirky and edgy which fits in with her fashion style and the music she produces. The fact that she is wearing a pair of lungs refers back to the album title but it is also a quire entropic feature, but this fits in with the quirkiness of the band. The use of colours on this cover makes the artist look pale, but natural and pretty. This again fits in well with the music on the album. People who are familiar with the sound of Florence and the Machine, will be aware that she has a very powerful voice, which again ties into the album name "lungs". The woodland and floral background on the cover connote a sense of fantasy which is refers back to the music on this album. It also fits in with the genre that Florence and the Machine are in, which is Indie/Folk.


 

This is the back cover of Florence and the Machine's album "Lungs". The main focus on this cover is the image of the lungs, this relates back to the album name. An entopic feature on this cover is the fact the the imaage of the lungs are number labelled with the tracking list. This makes it more meaningful as it suggests that the songs really did come from within her. Although the use of colours are rather plain compared to the front cover, the black and white works well to help the information and the images stand out and cath the audinece's eye.
